Working principle
An air motor turning a gear train
Instead of a spring or piston chamber, an air motor drives a gear train. The result is high output torque from a compact body, with no electrical drive at the valve — useful in hazardous areas and on large valves where a cylinder would be impractical.

Choose electric when
A
- No reliable instrument air at the valve
- Precise modulating control is needed
- Positioning feedback and diagnostics matter
- Air consumption is a running cost concern
Choose air motor when

- Instrument air is already available
- Hazardous area limits electrical equipment
- Very high torque is required
- A defined fail position on air loss is required
